RAM Plus Feature or Virtual RAM
RAM plus feature is already available in some phones. In Oppo, we know it by RAM expansion and in realme phones, we know it by dynamic RAM expansion. The RAM plus feature is a virtual RAM feature only. This is a software-based feature.
How Virtual RAM Feature Works
In fact, the concept of virtual RAM is already happening in laptops and PCs, now this feature has started coming in smartphones as well. According to this concept, some part of the phone’s memory is taken for RAM, which is virtually the case. This is a software process and does not require any additional hardware.
With the RAM plus feature, your 6GB/128GB phone’s RAM will become 5GB extra i.e. 11GB of RAM. Keep in mind that this extra 5GB is virtually RAM which is being used only from your phone’s memory.
Benifits Of Virtual RAM Feature
Let us understand with an example how Virtual RAM works. Suppose you can open 5 applications simultaneously on your phone. They will automatically kill when you try to open more app. Your phone’s all processes run in RAM and this RAM is volatile in nature. When you want to do multitasking with your phone, your phone’s RAM is over utilised and your phone gets hung. So with the help of virtual RAM, your multitasking will become easy which means you can open many applications simultaneously. All applications will be in the same mode where you sent them into the background.
Will Your Phone Become Faster With Virtual RAM?
The answer is no. Your phone is not going to work fast due to having virtual RAM. It only helps to smooth multitasking. So Samsung is also rolling out this virtual RAM feature in its upcoming phones. However, they have given the name, RAM Plus feature. Presently Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G phones may be upgraded to this feature.
